So have been out of the loop for some time and last week ordered Seclusion of Orphon and Fuck for Satan. Then this afternoon while perusing the lotfp G+ page, I see a post from march saying Fuck for Satan was vanishing. Does this mean I missed my opportunity to get this in print. Or by some luck is it still available as the web store advertises?

The city of Sigil from AD&D 2nd edition's Planescape Campaign setting is a great place built on the inside of a floating ring. All in all that setting was fairly strange so quite a bit could be gleaned from it most likely.

I made gnomes in my games to be psionic using dwarves. Dropped their hd to d6 and removed the Architecture skill bonuses and bonuses to encumbrance (gnomes are smaller dwarves). My psionics system is based on the specialist skills and points though with 16 psionic power. Things like range duration damage and healing is based on what was rolled on the die with increments increasing with the increase of pips/points invested (example for duration; 1 pip- 1 round, 2 pips- 1-2 rounds, 3 pips- 1-3 minutes , 4 pips- 1-4 turns, 5 pips-1-5 hours, and 6 pips- 5-11 hours[totals of 1-5 count as 5s] no limit on use, ranges in feet and the powers are open for adjudication with general descriptions for each power and their limitations.

So I have been reading and re-reading through this adventure during the day, and the Game of Joy, wow, The Joy is one sick wench! I really like the Reminder's creature though as it will surely exasperate some of my players. I'm honestly not entirely sure they are ready for this sort of game. It will definately throw them for a loop thats for sure. I like it and am looking forward to running it whether they like it or not as it will surely test their limits.

Downloaded it before work will read it after class, though I did skim through it. From what I have seen I an really going to enjoy this.

That would be awesome thornlord! Love that spell!

On topic; I think what would be most handy would be page indexes for anything that wasn't on the book covers. This way we could use the bookmarks to mark the Summon spell page and readily have the page numbers for anything else useful at a glance.

Lord Inar, I could totally get behind that as well.

I second the motion!

For some reason thinking about maiming characters reminded me of the Black Knight from Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail. And with combat and hit points being abstract and all I could see some of my players quote the entire scene, ala "It's just a scratch!"
"But your arms gone!"
"So! Have at thee!"

Thus any actual maiming will have to have some seriouse detremental effects to prevent these types of antics.

And by detremental it would have to be much much more than the loss of a couple of ability score points.

That was my thought.

While still going over the naw spells found within this game I went to look for the 9th level spell Lost Dweomer and noticed it wasn't in the spell descriptions. I am inclined to believe this was intentional, is this correct? If so my guess is that this spell is meant to represent one of the referee's own design. If I am incorrect then what does this spell do?

I'm loving this spell but I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around $. Imaginary Equation, Incorrect yet True. I imagine the effect was worded this way on purpose but what does "To act player must roll dice not his own, multiple dice only multiple owners, roll unimportant just pile of dice with most owners wins. Count sideways, subtract behind. No decision = no action." mean? Whoever has the most dice wins? either way still awesome! Best Spell Ever!

Was just reading over this spell. I can only say this, BEST SPELL EVER! Though confusing in parts.

Cool guess I should check the previouse threads more. This game just gets better and better!

Wow that was very insightful, thanks!

So I have been going through the Rules and Magic pdf an I have recently noticed that there doesn't appear to be any speciffic weapon nor armor restrictions for any of the classes. Would this mean for instance that a Magic-User could wear leather armor, weild a sword and or firearms? As is the only restrictions I see are based on encumbrance insofar as going towards M-U/Elf spellcasting and general movement and skill usage/actions. Am I reading this correctly?

Ok that's very cool since it leaves much open to personal creativity with how a GM would want these npcs fleshed out in regards to their own take on the LotFP setting. I'm going to take this very helpful information and run with it as I have my own ideas for these characters. Thanks!

While I no nothing of the adventure "Better than any Man" nor do I know the rules to Savage Worlds, I must say that the NPC and her accompanying creature look positively awesome. "I'll just insult you and your friends while my little pet here ganks the best abilities any of you have" Thats great!

Ok so I only have the Rules and Magic free pdf at the moment and loving it, but my question is who exactly is the scarlet haired heroine on the the cover of the books and featured in much of the art I have found online? I'm currently working on my LotFP campaign and while I am comming up with my own idea for the title character I would be greatly interested in learning about some cannon for this person if there is any. Questions include but not limited to her name, class(if any), a brief history and or character motivations(Why is she seen battling a Malrith and loosing her leg and some fingers to an unsavory ooze)? Any information would be much appreciated.

That is just too cool Yuritau! Best I can do is put a giant red X across their sheet with a Crayola.

I remember those DM screens and tables. They were used extensivly by the dm of the first 2nd edition game I ever played in. The theif lost his hand. I think maiming would be good for a gritty skin of your teeth type game. Im thinking of trying to work out a system with exploding criticals. Crit on natural 20(max damage) reroll the d20 on a second 20 maiming and double damage instead then roll the 20 a third time and a third consecutive 20 results in an insta-kill.

On second thought that may be overly complicated. Perhapse just implement crits on a natural 20 for max damage and a chance for maiming, which would require another table and die roll but less than the previouse method. I'd have to work out the tables. Though this may depend on the form of attack and will likely not affect the gammut of foes likely encountered(unless they favor huminoid types).

This seems interesting. As I only have the Rules and Magic pdf for the time being I am curious to know if the full game has regulations on a player simply rolling up a new character for when the party makes it back to civilazation? If the topic means while still on an adventure, well unless there are some form of hostages/prisoners to be rescued the deceased character's player just rolls up their next PC and waits for the party to return to town. Otherwise I would let them play out an npc for the time being(same goes if the party has some form of hirelings or henchmen at a later stage in the campaign) If there are no tag along npcs to be had well that person simply gets to wait(Though I would likely let them assist on running encounters on the monster's side just to keep them involved in the current session/s).

Greetings I am Jason age 33 and I live in Belleville Illinois. My first exposure to D&D was through the cartoon as a child. I was introduced to the actual game when I was in middle school by a friend. I started with second edition in 1996 and immediately incorperated it into another friend's freeform LARPing game. That was short lived as we all began playing Magic the Gathering around that time as well.  After moving on to third edition when it was released and playing it for nearly five years I began to look into the oldar editions and picked up a Moldevay Basic set at a flee market. None of my players shoed intrest in plating the older edition as they liked the options the d20 system provided. I was just looking to find a simple rules light game as I grew to loath WotC's abomination.

Moving into the present, with my brother getting out of the navy in a few months I wanted to cobble together a flavorful and old school styled game. I've been looking at various ret-cloned of D&D for some time though none have truly sparked my fancy. Then I found LotFP an it was very similar to what I was envisioning mechanics wise(being poor I downloaded the free Rules and Magic pdf). This was last week, I intend to get a physical copy of the Grind House Edition when funds allow. Till then I will continue to use a hodgepodge of old school systems with the LotFP pdf. as the primary rule book and currently the Delving Deeper Monster Book(it had Dinosaurs and Robots ect.) for the manxome foes my players will face. I am intrigued by Isle of the Unknown and Carcosa as well as they have spurred several ideas of my own.  And well that's about it, I will likely post on here detailing minor modifications I have made for my home game and to inquire about the various flavor and fluff that LotFP provides.
