Topic: Living space for a Retainer >> really just 10 square feet?

Hi everyone,

I would like to double-check if I am getting something wrong.

The "living space requirement" of most retainers (see Player Core Rules, p. 47) are 10 squarefeet.

...is this really the space a retainer is supposed to life in? We are talking about a room a little larger than 3´x 3´here. That is barely enough for a bed plus a chest/cupboard. I know that "the old days" offered little comforts for those who served their betters, but this seem VERY cramped.

Thank you for your opinions.

With kind regards

My interpretation is that you think of the unit as a "10 foot square" (like when mapping dungeons). So most retainers would have a room that consists of 100 square feet (10x10).
